Quick Answer

Open Jobs on your career computer to work a shift between fights. Each job is a mini-game: wood chopping, an assembly line, and fishing all pay cash. Early in your career, wood chopping is the best pick, because one session gives you XP plus Power, Grit, and Heart at the same time.

How do you start a job in Bruisers 2D Boxing?

Your trainer points you to it in the first week of your career. An email from John in your inbox reads: "If you're looking for a way to make some extra cash, maybe gain a few skills, go check out the job section on your computer."

John's email in BruiseMail sends you to the job section on your computer.

  1. Open your career computer, the desktop you land on between fights.
  2. Select Jobs, the magnifying-glass icon at the bottom of the left column, under Inbox, Shop, and Dark Net.
  3. Pick a job and play its mini-game. Your pay goes into the Cash total at the top of the screen.

The Jobs icon sits at the bottom of the left column, under Inbox, Shop, and Dark Net.

Which jobs can you work?

Three jobs show up in the career so far. All of them pay; wood chopping is the one known to train your fighter as well.

Every job mini-game was rebuilt for the Early Access launch, with a new look and a high-score screen, and fishing got its own overhaul.

Why is wood chopping the best early job?

Wood chopping builds the three stats that carry an amateur career. Game Launch Central calls it "by far the best job in the early game" and uses it as the base of almost every amateur build:

  • Power turns your punches into knockouts instead of points wins.
  • Grit keeps you on your feet when a heavy shot lands.
  • Heart gets your fighter back up after a knockdown.

It is also one of the few ways to train Grit efficiently, and it suits the Bully style, where you walk forward and trade. Fighters who build these three early get earlier knockouts, which means fewer injuries and less money spent on recovery. See Bruisers 2D Boxing training for the gym side of the same plan.

What should you spend your job money on?

Cash runs out fast at the start. A new career begins with $100, and the first amateur fight in the tutorial pays a $608 purse, so jobs fill the gap between paydays. Your money goes to:

Pay for food first. Missing weight or fighting run-down costs more than any shift earns.

How do you balance work with training and meals?

Work, training, and meals all compete for the same days between fights. A practical week looks like this:

  1. Plan meals so you are on track for your target weight.
  2. Chop wood for cash and Power, Grit, and Heart.
  3. Spend the remaining days on gym training for the stats wood chopping does not cover.
  4. Heal any injuries before you accept the next fight.

As purses grow in the professional ranks, you can lean less on shifts and more on training.
